William C. Williams of Greenwood Lake, a retired union plumber with Local 638 in New York City and a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Friday September 14, 2018 in Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y. He was 89. The son of the late William and Catherine Tate he was born in N.Y. City. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie Mele Williams. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. Survivors include his wife of 32 years Sandra Holz at home. His children Donald Williams and his wife Nancy of Davie, FL.; Barbara Stemple and her husband Bruce of Hawthorne, N.J.; Arlene Verrino and her husband Joseph of Valley Cottage, N.Y. and Deborah Williams of Greenwood Lake, N.Y. His beloved grandchildren Kelly; Keith; Joey; Justin and Brittany as well as his five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Michael Williams and his grandson Bruce. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday September 18, 2018 from 5-8 P.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak St. Greenwood Lake, N.Y. Cremation will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or an Animal Humane Society of your choice.
