Obituary of Barbara J. Alvarez

Barbara J. Alvarez of Middletown, retired from Verizon in Valhalla, N.Y. died on June 30, 2018 in Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown.  She was 67.

The daughter of the late Angelo and Carmen Velez, she was born on February 26, 1951 in Bronx, N.Y.

Barbara was a member of St. Joseph Church in Middletown.  President of the Town of Wallkill Police Community Council for over 10 years.  Member of the Youth Coalition Board of the Town of  Wallkill. She ran the Block Watch for Sandburg Court and was also very active in other community activities.  A former member of Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx, where she also was a choir member.

She was a devoted fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

She was the widow of Jose Alvarez Jr.

Survivors include her son Jose Alvarez III of Middletown.  Her brother  Mario Velez of Bronx, N.Y.  She is also survived by her cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Sunday July 8, 2018 from 1-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, N.Y.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday July 9, 2018 at 11 A.M. at St. Joseph Church Cottage St. Middletown, N.Y.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Middletown, N.Y.
