Obituary of Richard A. Cherry

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Anthony "Yogi" Cherry, a lifelong area resident entered into eternal peace on March 31, 2016 with his children by his side. He was 77. The son of the late Mary Burke and Henry Irving Cherry, he was born on October 9, 1938 in Goshen, NY. A family statement reads: " Dad was a local business owner for most of his life. He and his brother George owned and operated Cherry Brothers Construction for over 30 years. He found joy sponsoring various drivers at OCFS through the years and loved watching NASCAR and football. He enjoyed hunting and liked casting a pole at his favorite fishing hole. Many would enjoy Yogi's BBQ chicken and turtle bakes. In his later years, Dad took pride in his garden and loved to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Pop left an impression wherever he went and always lived life on his terms. We love you Poppy and will miss you, but we find comfort in knowing that you are finally home with Mom. In our hearts is where you will always be." Survivors include his daughters Jodi Gillette and her husband Kevin; Dodi Cherry; Deanna Cherry and Robin Davis and his son Daniel Davis. His grandchildren Clifton, Erica, Kaitlyn and Chase. His sisters Alice Raymond, Marion Lichwick and Margaret Lynch and his brothers Robert and George Cherry and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret. Visitation hours will be held on Sunday April 3, 2016 from 1-4 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, N.Y.
