Obituary of George W. Cherry

George Washington Cherry, nickname “Dalton” of Middletown, NY entered into rest on Friday, February 2, 2024. He was 83. The son of the late Mary Burke and Henry Irving Cherry. George was a caring person who lived life to the fullest. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast who loved riding his 1987 FLH Harley. He also enjoyed hunting and NASCAR. He was a self-employed business owner of Cherry Brother’s Construction and retired after 30+ years. Survived by his son Ricky Alan Cherry, grandchildren Erika and Shane, sister Margaret Lynch, step-children Grover, Rodney, Dennis Harding, Joseph and Mike Yanis, Rebecca Elliott, Kim Baxter, Michael Garretto, several step-grandchildren/nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wives, Fay Cherry, Judith Cherry of 14 years and his companion Barbara Garretto of 17 years and several brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Middletown Elks Lodge on Highland Avenue on Friday, February 16th from 6-9pm. Burial will be held at a later date.
