Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elsie M. Meyer May 4, 1922 – July 10, 2021 Elsie M. Meyer, 99.2 years, a lifelong resident of Middletown, NY passed away peacefully on July 10, 2021 at the Wolf Lake home of her son Roy Meyer. Elsie was eldest of nine children born to Theodore and Rose (Mathews) Hadden in Middletown NY. She was married to Ralph E. Meyer who predeceased her in 2014. Sadly, Elsie outlived her First Baptist Church on Mulberry Street along with all of the members. Elsie was a skilled seamstress, enjoyed reading and keeping up with the news, and also liked to spend time working in her yard where for many years she raised beautiful flowers and vegetables. However, in her later years her love of Wolf Lake was high on her list. She spent many weeks at the lake and enjoyed the hummingbirds, the sailboats and the peaceful view it provided her. She would sit on the deck and marvel at the beauty before her. She was happy to see the 4th of July fireworks that was provided by many of the lake residents this year. However, her main mission in life was to care for her son, Robinn who was born with Down Syndrome in 1951. In those early years with her friends, whose children shared similar disabilities, Elsie was one of the five persons responsible for the local chapter of the Association of Retarded Children in Orange County. She was dedicated to making sure that Robinn and other disabled children received the best in care and education. She was truly a champion of challenged children for most of her life. Elsie is survived by her children, Ralph R. (Eva) Meyer, daughter, Jean (Tom) Lloyd, son, Roy (Patricia) Meyer. Her son, Robinn predeceased her in 2016. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Karin, Steven, Dina, Anna, Christine, Michelle & Eric. She was predeceased by her grandson Craig Foster in 2009. Elsie is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Madeline, Clarabell, Edith, Alberta, Helen, Pauline and her two brothers, Theodore (Dick) Hadden and Andrew Hadden. The family would like to thank Dr Robert E Dinsmore, Dr. Winchester Penny, Hospice of Orange-Sullivan West along with the hospice nurses, Brandy, Jamie, Ella and Jessica. They guided Mom through a very difficult time with love and exceptional caring. They are truly the angels that God has put on this earth to assisted many in their transition. It is impossible for our family to express our gratitude to them.
