Rev. Dr. Sandra Robbie Gould, a resident of Middletown, NY, left her earthly body to live eternally with Christ on Thursday, July 1, 2021. She was 77. The daughter of the late Gladys Arnold was born on October 12, 1943, in Greenville, South Carolina, but she always told everyone she considered herself a New Yorker. Sandra spent her entire life attending church and serving God. She was one of the founding members of St. Paul Baptist Church in Middletown, NY. She was also one of the founding members of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Middletown, NY, where she was the Assistant to the Pastor under the leadership of her husband, Rev. James E Gould. Sandra attended R.T Hudson Seven Day Adventist Elementary School and graduated as the Valedictorian with honors from George Washington High School. She received a Registered Professional Nurse Diploma from Bellevue School of Nursing, an Associate in Applied Science from Hunter College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the College of New Rochelle, a Masters of Science in Health Care Administration and Policy from the New School for Social Research, a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Health Service Policy and Management, and a second doctoral degree in Philosophy in Religious Studies from Trinity Theological Seminary. A Certified Healthcare Executive, Sandra was a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She retired as the Vice President of Ambulatory Care, Community Based Services and Regulatory Affairs at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. She was a member and served the following organizations: The President of the National Association of Health Services Executives, Inc. from 2001 to 2003. She is currently serving as First Vice President of the New York Progressive Baptist State Convention, Inc. She is the Supreme Grand Matron Emeritus of Universal Supreme Council, Thirty-Third and Last Degree, Inc She was a former President of the Congress of Christian Education and Parliamentarian and former President of The Women's Department of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Association, Inc. She was a member of the Women's Department and The Board of Education and Publication of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. She was a former President of the Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows of the Baptist Ministers Evening Conference Of Greater New York and Vicinity, Inc. International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, Inc. New York State Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, Inc. Interdenominational Eastern Region of The Progressive National Baptist Convention Sandra leaves to mourn her loving husband of 46 years, James of Middletown, NY; sons, James Jr (Cheryl) of Fair Lawn, NJ, Vincent (Patricia) of Bronx, NY, Michael (Theresa) of Conyers, GA, Rodney of Springfield, MA, Michael Tyler (Kristine) of Kingston, NY, daughters, Denise Brown (Joseph), JaVonne Brown (Shawn) of Maybrook, NY., Grandchildren, Sharlene, Desiree, Saalim, Dawul, Robbynne, Elijah, Jamel, Jordan, Jayden, Shaun, Joseph Jr, Leah. A host of great-grandchildren. Adopted daughters, Cheryl Marriott (Gladstone), Debra Sanders (Horace), and Joy Barrett-Howard (Harry), Gwendolyn High, and Joyce Patterson. Aunt, Jessica Hopkins of Summerville, SC. A special sister Cynthia Vaughn (Murray), of Snellville, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Gladys Arnold, and her uncle, Samuel Hopkins. We, the family, grieve the loss of our wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, but we know where she is and that brings us peace and comfort. Thank you to Valley View Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center and Garnet Health Medical Center for your loving care for Sandra. A wake will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, 5–8 pm at the Greater Faith Baptist Church, 845 E. 167th Street, Bronx, NY. A wake will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, 4–8 pm at Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, 72 W Main Street, Middletown, NY. Homegoing service will be Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 11 A.M. with a final viewing from 9–11 am at the Greater Upperroom Apostolic Faith Church 1 Linden Ave. Middletown, N.Y. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Middletown, NY. The homegoing service will be live-streamed on Zoom.
