Larry Anthony Butera, formerly of Greenwood Lake, passed away surrounded by his family on April 18, 2017. He was 81. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara F. (Prince) Butera. Born April 13,1936 in Closter, NJ Larry was the son of the late Anthony J. and Marie E. (Helion) Butera. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the New Jersey Carpenters Local 15. He was also a member of the Greenwood Lake, NY Lions Club and the Yarmouth, MA Moose Lodge. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman and was enjoying his retirement on Cape Cod. In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his children Michael Butera of Franklin, NJ, Nancy McCaffrey and her husband Chic of West Milford, NJ, Susan Wardrop and her husband Craig of Rockaway, NJ, and Larry Butera and his wife Krista of West Milford, NJ. He was the beloved Grandfather of Chelsea Jordan and Matt Butera, Ryan and Erin McCaffrey, Alyssa and Megan Wardrop and Kyle and Casey Butera. He is also survived by his sister Lorraine Schaefer and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, April 28th from 5-8 pm at Strong-Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak St. Greenwood Lake, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm Saturday April 29, 2017at Holy Rosary RC Church Greenwood Lake, NY. Anyone who knew Larry knew of his love for Collies. His dogs were a major part of his family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the West Milford Animal Shelter.
