Obituary of Joseph V. Brady

Joseph V. Brady, a retired police officer for the NYPD and longtime resident of the area, passed away Sunday December 18, 2016 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 72. The son of the late Joseph V. and Virginia Cangro Brady, he was born on August 11, 1944 in Staten Island, NY. Joseph was a US NAVY veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was member of the Emerald Society in the NYC Police Department and a member of Holy Rosary Church. Survivors include his wife: Eileen Brady at home; his 3 children: Kathleen Brady & her companion, David Straub of Dingmans Ferry, PA; Joseph Brady & his wife Sara of Honeoye Falls, NY; Patrick Brady & his wife Elizabeth of Florida, NY; his grandchildren: Lillian; Lita; Patrick; Sophia; John; Cecilia and Victoria. He is further survived by his sister: Virginia Brady of Staten Island; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson: Tyler. Visitation will be held Wednesday December 21, 2016 from 4-8 PM at Strong-Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak Street Greenwood Lake, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday December 22, 2016 at 10 AM at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake, NY. Burial will follow at Orange County Veteran's Cemetery in Goshen, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn, the American Cancer Society or Holy Rosary Church.
