James O. Heron Greenwood Lake, New York James O. Heron of Greenwood Lake, N.Y. a retired telecommunications specialist with the N.Y. City Board of Education and a longtime resident of the area, died on December 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 74. The son of the late Owen and Madeline Dixon Heron, he was born on June 21, 1944 in Queens, New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving form 1961-1965 and was a member of the Greenwood Lake American Legion. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Heron at home. His children Joseph Heron and his wife Geraldine; Veronica Piro and her husband John; Robroy Heron; Theresa Steele and her husband Steven and Heather Heron. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Heron and his sister Margaret DiSalvo and his 20 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Keith Heron. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday January 3, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak Street Greenwood Lake, N.Y.
