Obituary of Herbert Herbie Penaluna

Herbert "Herbie" Penaluna of Greenwood Lake, a retired mason and lifelong resident of the area, died on Tuesday August 27, 2013 in Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y. He was 83. The son of the late Joseph and Mildred Penaluna, he was born on June 18, 1930 in Sterling Forest, N.Y. He was a member of the American Legion in Greenwood Lake. He was a member of the Warwick High School Football Hall of Fame. Herbie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the widower of Georgia Penaluna. Survivors include his four daughters Terry Caffrey of Montgomery; Joanne Cerbone and her husband Eddie of Maplewood, N.J.; Bonnie Penaluna of Greenwood Lake and Penny Johnston and her husband Bob of Florida, N.Y. His three grandchildren Denise; Jimmy and Chelsea and his great-granddaughter Ava. His brother Walter Penaluna of Greenwood Lake as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday August 29, 2013 from 5-8 P.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak St. Greenwood Lake, N.Y. Funeral Services will be held on Friday August 30, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. in the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Lake Cemetery Greenwood Lake, N.Y.
