Dorothy Hess of Lake Placid, Florida, retired Tax Collector for the Township of River Vale, N.J., died on August 4, 2013 in Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y. She was 72. The daughter of the late Walter and Helen Grimes, she was born on July 31, 1941 in Queens, N.Y. She was the widow of Joseph O'Connell and Carl Hess. Survivors include her children Joseph O'Connell and his wife Kathleen of Middletown; Eileen Morse and her companion Jeffrey Rhinesmith of Stockholm, N.J.; Sean O'Connell and his wife Dawn of San Antonio, Texas and Kerry Lisa and her husband Jeffrey of Long Valley, N.J. Her ten grandchildren: Kelly Morse; Joey O'Connell and his wife Lauren; Erin Alfuth and her husband John; Donald Morse; Sean O'Connell; Caela O'Connell; Casey Lisa; Liam O'Connell; Austin Lisa; and Kaiya O'Connell. Her four great-grandchildren T.J. Alfuth; Lucas O'Connell; Teagan Alfuth and Dylan Alfuth. Her brother Walter and his wife Beverly and his sisters Lorraine Strumpfler and her husband George and Helen Messina and her husband Jack as well as nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday August 8, 2013 from 4-7 P.M. with Funeral Services at 6:30 P.M. at the Lippincott Funeral Chapel, Inc. 107 Murray Ave. Goshen, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Autism Society or a charity of one's choice.
