William P. McCarthy of Middletown, the retired Postmaster of the U.S. Post Office in Spring Glen, and a lifelong resident of the area, died on February 18, 2014 in Middletown. He was 63. The son of the late William F. McCarthy and Geraldine Reilly McCarthy, he was born on April 10, 1950 in N.Y., N.Y. Survivors include his mother Geraldine McCarthy of Quincy, MA. His brothers Kevin McCarthy of Golden, Colorado and Robert McCarthy and his wife Jennifer of El Dorado Hills, CA. His sister Geraldine McCormack and her husband Edward of Braintree, MA. His nieces and nephews Paul Banagas; Meghan McCarthy; Daniel McCarthy; Molly McCarthy; and Kevin; Brittney and Lindsey McCormack. His aunt Dorothy Barry and his cousins. Visitation hours will be held on Monday February 24, 2013 from 4-7 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday February 25, 2014 at 11 A.M. at St. Joseph Church 149 Cottage St. Middletown, N.Y. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Middletown, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown Humane Society.
