Marilyn A. Higgins, a former bookkeeper and tax preparer in Elmhurst , NY and Greenwood Lake area resident, died Saturday November 10, 2012 at home. She was 75. The daughter of the late James and Dorothy Reinhardt Rone, she was born on April 10, 1937 in Elmhurst , NY . Marilyn was the widow of James L. Higgins Jr. She was a longtime member of Ascension Parish in Elmhurst , Queens and was currently a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake . Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Lyn Tobin and her husband, Joseph of Greenwood Lake; her grandchildren: James, Michael, Kathleen, Joseph and Mary. She is further survived by her brother, Edward Rone and his wife, Marcia; her sister-in-law, Marion Higgins; her brother-in-law, Martin Higgins and his wife, Esther; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her loving son, James L. Higgins III; her sister, Ruth Whitehouse and her brother, James Rone. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at Strong-Basile Funeral Home, 4 Oak Street , Greenwood Lake , NY . A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 12 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake . Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale , NY .
