Obituary of Peter G. DeVries

Peter G. DeVries Greenwood Lake, New York Peter G. DeVries of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., a retired Deli Manager for Stop and Shop in New City, N.Y. passed away on July 5, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was 73. He was born on December 30, 1947 in Teaneck, N.J. Peter worked in the supermarket industry for over fifty-five years. He was a member of Local 464 and was a longtime member of the Board of Directors. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed time riding his motorcycle and loved spending time on his boat in Greenwood Lake and most importantly loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Greenwood Lake Fire Department and was an EMT with the Greenwood Lake Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He is survived by his wife Lauren Maiocchi-DeVries. His children Justyce and Chase; Jessica Slider and her husband George; Melissa Cerniglia; Peter J. DeVries and his wife Cindy and Nicole DeVries and her fiancé Gregory. His grandchildren: Kayla; Lexi; Evan; Michael; Brianna; Nicholas; Lyndsay; Savannah; Mya and Lilah and his great-granddaughter Rhea. He was predeceased by his daughter Adriane DeVries, his mother Dolores and his son-in-law Joseph Cerniglia. Visitation hours will be held on Sunday July 11, 2021 from 3-7 P.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak Street Greenwood Lake, N.Y. Services will be held on Sunday evening at 6 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Family and Friends will gather at the Funeral Home on Monday July 12, 2021 at 9:30 A.M. and a procession will commence at 10 A.M. to the Cemetery in New Jersey. Graveside Services will be held on Monday July 12, 2021 at 11 A.M. in George Washington Memorial Park Paramus, N.J.
