Following an extensive illness, Carl (Charlie) Behrendt passed away at his home in northeastern Pennsylvania. He was 93 years old. Carl was a former longtime resident of Goshen and Campbell Hall, N.Y. Carl was born in New York City. After living in Germany during his early years, he and his family returned to the United States. Subsequently, he served in the U.S. Army's 1st Cavalry Division in Korea. Carl was proud of his commitment to his country. During his long career, he was a New York City taxi driver, a union painter and a maintenance mechanic at a pharmaceutical company. Carl was also a Freemason for over 50 years. Carl and his wife, Dottie, lived a joy-filled life that included cruises and travel in Europe, quiet country living, visiting local eateries and pampering their treasured companion pets. He is survived by his son, Bill, and daughter-in-law, Kate; his brother, Arthur, and sister-inlaw, Mary; numerous stepchildren and their spouses; and many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Carl will be laid to rest alongside Dottie in Wallkill Cemetery in the Town of Wallkill, N.Y. Visitation will be held at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, 72 West Main St., Middletown, N.Y., on Friday, February 10 from 4PM to 7PM In lieu of cards and flowers, it was Carl's wish that donations be made in his name to one's favorite charity.
