William A. Smith Sr. of Middletown, N.Y. a retired teacher at the Goshen Annex and a longtime resident of the area passed away on May 3, 2023 in Garnet Health Medical Center. He was 94.
The son of the late Eddie and Grace Smith, William was born on December 11, 1928 in Goshen, N.Y.
William was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was predeceased by his siblings Jenny Hill and Catherine Garrison and Walter Grahanum and his partner of 50 years Kathryn J. Green.
Survivors include his children William A. Smith Jr. and Jacquiline Smith. He is also survived by Nettie Green, Schemyka Hamilton, Malyka Hamilton, Jonathan William Dessalines, Kathryn Stewart-Harper, Alazasia Green-Brathwaite, Tammi Green, Pam King, Cleoretta Green, Susan Green. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at the Middletown American Legion 185 Wawayanda Ave. Middletown, N.Y. 10940 on Friday May 19, 2023 at 2 PM.
