Robert A. Steinke, a retired union pipe fitter in New Jersey and a longtime resident of Middletown, died Tuesday June 12, 2012 at Middletown Park Manor. He was 90. The son of the late Bernard and Katherine Keegan Steinke, he was born on January 3, 1922 in Bronx, New York. He was a WWII veteran of the US ARMY Aircorp. He was a member of St. Joseph RC Church ;BPOE Lodge 1097; American Legion and formerly bowled with the Elks League. Survivors include his wife: Josephine Shay Steinke at home; his children: Kathy Viola of Brooklyn, NY; Christina Thornton of Bronx, NY; his step-children: Sharon Motley of Baltimore, MD; Richard Shay of Douglasville, GA; Patricia Fulton of Kenoza Lake, NY; Jo Ann Weber of Westtown, NY; as well as many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter: Claudia Pinto and his brothers: John; Joseph and Bernard Steinke. Visitation will be held on Friday June 15, 2012 from 4-7 PM at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main Street Middletown, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 16, 2012 at 11 AM at St. Joseph RC Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
