Richard P. Wilson Sr. September 9, 1949 – March 19, 2025 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard P. Wilson, Sr. of Bloomingburg, NY, who left this world peacefully in his sleep on March 19, 2025, at the age of 75. Born in the Bronx, NY, to the late William and Mary Wilson on September 9, 1949, Richard carried his New York roots proudly throughout his life. A loyal and dedicated employee retired from Shop Rite in Airmont, NY, Richard embodied the values of hard work, integrity, and devotion. Richard was the beloved widower of Ronnie L. Wilson, the love of his life, whom he met at The Stables in The Bronx and with whom he shared a life filled with love and cherished memories. He is survived by his children, Richard P. Wilson, Jr. and Kim M. Zayas, her partner Tom, and his adored grandchildren—Brayden, Tristan, Lennon, and Chase—who were the light of his life. Richard also leaves behind cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts. A true fan of the Tri-State sports scene, Richard's loyalty never wavered. He cheered passionately for the New York Yankees, Brooklyn Nets, and New York Giants, and in recent years, he found joy in following the New York Rangers. His love of sports was a reflection of his enthusiastic and dedicated spirit. Movies held a special place in Richard's heart. He shared countless hours with his daughter, Kim, watching Oscar-nominated films each year—a tradition that brought them closer and created moments they both treasured deeply. Yet, above all, it was the time spent with his grandchildren that brought him the greatest joy. Whether cheering them on at their activities or sharing quiet moments at home, Richard's love for his family was boundless and evident in every interaction. Richard touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His kindness, compassion, and sense of humor left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and community. He will be remembered not only for his warm heart but also for the way he made people feel valued and cared for. As a result of his love of rescue dogs, and in honor of Richard’s memory, donations in lieu of food, blankets and detergent, may be made to Sullivan County ASPCA, 104 Rock Hill Dr, Rock Hill, NY 12775 Richard's presence will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved wife Ronnie, and forever cherished in our memories.
