Mary Boyce

Mary (Malone) Boyce, a long-time resident of the Middletown NY and Stuart FL areas, died Monday the 5th of October at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She was born October 9, 1927to Anna & Sisto Malone of Chester NY. A 1945 graduate of Chester High School, she wed her sweetheart Donald Boyce Sr of Middletown on September 19, 1953 (63 years). Mary was a fantastic cook and enjoyed teaching those culinary skills to her children and grandchildren. Her specialty dishes were exceptional and meatballs always in high demand. Mary was also an avid golfer, a member of both Port Jervis and Miles Grant Country Clubs, rising to the level of Miles Grant Ladies Club Champion in 1997. As well, Mary was a talented bridge player where she enjoyed competing at the Middletown Senior Center and Miles Grant Country Club. Mary served her church and community in many ways; notably as a Eucharistic Minister for both St. Christopher Church of Hobe Sound, FL and Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown, NY. Mary volunteered her time for Meals on Wheels of Middletown, Reading to The Children at Thrall Library, Mt Carmel School librarian, and as an AARP tax consultant in Stuart, FL. Mary is survived by many; Husband Donald Boyce Sr; son Donald Jr /wife Janet of Yankee Lake NY& their children Donald III (Manhattan NY), Jenna (Yankee Lake NY); son Brian/ fiancé Tracey Cantwell (Cincinnati OH), & children Brian Jr (Wilmington NC), Shannon (Boyce) Lutomski (Charlotte NC); son Jerry / wife Cheryl (Stuart FL),& their daughter Nicole (Jacksonville FL); daughter Linda Hess/ husband Jack& their children Danielle, Andrew, Alexis, Michael (Charlotte, NC) and 7 great grandchildren. Further survived by her Brother Larry Malone& wife Patricia (Monroe NY), Sister Virginia Battiato& husband Sam (Chester NY), along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to grandparents Joseph & Virginia Ribando, parents Sisto& Anna Malone, she was predeceased by son Jeffrey Boyce, and granddaughter Larissa Boyce. The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to all those caregivers who were angels sent from heaven to watch over Mary during her last many weeks. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday October 8, 2015 at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown, N.Y. Burial will follow in Howells Cemetery Howells, N.Y.
