Marvin Deboer

December 8, 1938 — February 20, 2013

Marvin DeBoer of Westtown, a retired Tractor Trailer Driver and a lifelong resident of the area, died on February 20, 2013 at his home due to a Glioblastoma Multiforme. He was 74. The son of the late Cornelius and Nellie Dykstra DeBoer, he was born on December 8, 1938 in Middletown, N.Y. He was a member of the Goshen Christian Reformed Church, where he formerly served as a Deacon and Elder in the Church. He was a former board member of the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee. Survivors include his wife Alida DeVries DeBoer at home. His children Laura Goedegebuure and her husband Alan of Greenville; Leah Poveda and her husband George of Greenville; Susan Martin and her husband Frank of Mt. Hope and Todd DeBoer of Westtown. His grandchildren Erin Goedegebuure and her husband Malcolm Derk; Jill Goedegebuure; Scott Goedegebuure; Zachary Poveda; Joshua Poveda; Sara Poveda; Amanda Martin; Nicholas Martin and Alison Martin. His sister Janet Miedema of Middletown, N.Y. His brothers John DeBoer and his wife Lois of Simpsonville, S.C. and Peter DeBoer of Midland Park, N.J. His sister-in-laws Lillian DeBoer of Johnson and Helen DeVries of Prospect Park, N.J. as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Clarence and Frank DeBoer. Visitation hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Friday February 22, 2013 at the Goshen Christian Reformed Church 43 Route 17A Goshen, N.Y. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 23, 2013 at 11 A.M. at the Goshen Christian Reformed Church.
