Martha J. Brenan Middletown, New York Martha J. Brenan of Middletown, died after a brief illness on Saturday June 16, 2012. She was born on January 9, 1911 in Quarryville, NJ, the 8th of 12 children born to Alice (Bullock) Eason and William "Bill" Eason who immigrated from England. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1929 and married the love of her life, Thomas Francis Brenan on November 12, 1938. They had Three children: Helen Martha(1944); Robert Thomas(1945) and Eileen Nora(1946). Martha worked at FW Woolworth Company in 1928 as a saleslady and retired in1976 as the office manager. She and her husband enjoyed vacationing at their Abanakee Lake cabin in the Adirondack mountains; fishing; reading and visiting with family. Martha always caught the most fish with her lucky bamboo fishing pole, the envy of all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed the rowboat even though she could not swim. She was an active member of the town of wallkill Happy Seniors, serving as treasurer/ tour coordinator/travel group leader for many years.She organized many trips to many different places and was honored as "Senior of the Year" four times. She was the oldest member by both age and service(28 years). Martha enjoyed reading old western novels; crocheting; traveling; gambling; TV game shows and flower gardening, her favorites being the bleeding heart; pink roses and African violets. She was famous for her strawberry jam. She was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and followed the players' careers from the 1950's until the present. For her 100th birthday, Martha had an open house party for her friends and family, then went gambling to the Monticello Racino with the help of her son in law Arthur. For her 101th birthday, she was proud to receive a photo and greeting from the president. Martha was predeceased by her husband Thomas Brenan and her daughter Helen Larson; as well as her siblings Clarence; Thomas; William; Anson; Amy; Nellie; Ada; Ernest; Edith and Harry. She is survived by her sister: Bea Babcock; her children: Eileen(Arthur) Conduzio of Lake George, NY; Robert Brenan of Buffalo, NY; her 4 grandchildren: Susan (Larson) Harris of the Hamlet of Wallkill, NY; Christine Larson of Corinth, NY; Kurt & Eric Conduzio of Queensbury, NY; 6 great-grandchildren: Lindsay & Kyle Harris; Michael & Thomas Garti; Sarah & Michael Conduzio; one son in law: Chuck Larson; as well as many nieces and nephews. A very special thank you goes out to Susan Harris(granddaughter) and Marge Phillips(niece) for the extra time and attention always given to Martha. Visitation will be held on Saturday June 23, 2012 from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main Street Middletown, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10 AM followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Middletown.
