Marcellus D. Brown Jr. of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., a retired lab technician for DuPont in Pompton Lakes, N.J. and a lifelong resident of the area, died on December 3, 2016 in Warwick. He was 93. The son of the late Marcellus and Mary Wood Brown, he was born on March 30, 1923 in Warwick, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a Charter Member of the Greenwood Lake American Legion and was a member of the Greenwood Lake Elk's. Marcellus was active in the conservation efforts in Greenwood Lake and was an active swimmer and Boater in Greenwood Lake. He was the widower of Ella Grace Brown. Survivors include his son Roger D. Brown and his wife Mary Amelia Brown of Danville, PA. His grandchildren Mary Elana Brown; Brendan D. Brown and Elizabeth K. Brown. His nephews George and Gerard Hawkins; William Fields and William L. Brown and her nieces Kathleen Hawkins and Diane Clark. He was predeceased by his brother William Brown Sr. and his sister Doris Donald. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday December 6, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. and Wednesday December 7, 2016 from 9-10 A.M. with a Funeral Service at 10 A.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak St. Greenwood Lake, New York. Burial will be in Warwick Cemetery Warwick, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenwood Lake American Legion or the Greenwood Lake Elk's Lodge.
