Mae Effa Ayers of Middletown passed away at home on Friday, November 15, with her loving family by her side. She was 101 years old.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Effa Phillips, her brother John Phillips, her husband of 60 years, Irvin Ayers and her daughter, Marie Monti.
Survivors include her sons Mervin Ayers (Linda), Raymond Ayers (Susan), John Ayers, all of Middletown, her son-in-law, John Monti, of Middletown and her 2 grandchildren, Audra Smith (Jarrett) of Schenectady and Raymond Ayers of Middletown.
Mae worked at JJ Newberry for several years as a sales clerk, as a bookkeeper for Irv Ayers & Sons, and at Orange County Community College in the registration department. She was a devoted member of the Middletown South congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 85 years.
She was known for making the best potato salad & creamed onions ever! The Ayers family would like to thank all the nurses & aides from Hospice of Orange County for their loving & tender care of Mae.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20 from 12:30-1:30 at the Martinez Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown.
A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Hillside Cemetery in Middletown, N.Y.
