Lorraine Murphy

Lorraine K. Murphy of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., a retired clerical administrator at MetLife in N.Y. City and a longtime resident of the area, died on November 29, 2014 in Schervier Pavillion in Warwick. She was 87. The daughter of the late James and Margaret Daly Kearns, she was born on May 3, 1927 in Bronx, N.Y. Mrs. Murphy was the widow of William Murphy and they were the former owners of Greenwood Lake Liquors. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake and a Founding member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Daughters. Survivors include her nieces Diane Kearns Fitzpatrick of Beacon and Patricia Kearns Martin and her husband Robert of Olive Bridge. Her nephews Michael Kearns of Bronxville and Paul Malanga of Delmar. She is further survived by her great-nieces Christina Malanga and her husband Brian Walters and Kerry Kearns. She was predeceased by her niece Barbara Kearns Malanga and her great-nephews William Neitche and Michael Martin. The family will receive friends on Friday December 5, 2014 from 9-9:30 A.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak St. Greenwood Lake, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday December 5, 2014 at 10 A.M. at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake. Burial will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery Warwick, New York.
