John Space

November 19, 1927 — May 6, 2015

John R. Space of Greenwood Lake, a retired Grinder for Austenal Laboratories in Dover, NJ and lifelong resident of the area, died on May 6, 2015 in Andover Subacute Rehab Center in Andover, N.J. He was 87. The son of the late William and Edna Space, he was born on November 19, 1927 in Warwick, New York. He was a former member of the Greenwood Lake Lions Club; a life member of the Warwick Hook and Ladder Co. and he was a member of the American Legion. He was the widower of Bertha Space. Survivors include his children Barbara Walek of West Milford, N.J.; John Space and Joan Rhinesmith of Greenwood Lake; Pam Space of Rockland County; Paul Space of PA. and Melissa Vardon of Virginia. He is also survived by his brother Kenny Space of Warwick; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be held on Friday May 8, 2015 from 4-7 P.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak St. Greenwood Lake, New York. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday May 9, 2015 at 10 A.M. at Warwick Cemetery in Warwick, N.Y.
