Joan Constance DeGroat Davis peacefully went to her final resting place on March 31, 2021 surrounded by family at her home of 49 years in Goshen, NY. The daughter of Minnie (Morgan) & Vivan DeGroat, Joan was born on April 7th, 1930 in Hillburn, New York. After marrying the love of her life, Joseph F Davis on December 15, 1947, they moved to Paterson, New Jersey, before settling in Goshen, New York. Joan remained active in her community after retiring from Riviera Cabinetry in 1995. She was a member, elder, and for many years, treasurer of Brook Presbyterian Church in Hillburn, N.Y. Joan was also previously on the Board of Elections for the Ramapo Mountain Indians. She was an avid bowler, loved playing Mahjong, and doing crossword puzzles. She was an exemplary role model, known for her kindness, compassion and understanding. She will be dearly missed. Joan is survived by her sisters; Eileen Caldwell of Warwick, N.Y., Marilyn "Glen" Royster (Wilford) of Washingtonville, N.Y., and Kathi Davis (Edward) of Oceanside, CA. Her children Joseph Davis (Sylvia) of Paterson, N.J., Linda Davis of Goshen, and Aaron Davis (Charmaine) of Middletown, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 71 years Joseph Davis; her son Robert "Bobby" Davis; parents Minnie & Vivan DeGroat; brothers, Vivan Jr., Wallace, Ronald, Carlton DeGroat and sisters, Dorothy Robinson,Roberta Kyles, Elaine LaForte & Helen Peterson. Arrangements will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Ramapough Mountain Indians, 189 Stag Hill Rd, Mahwah, N.J. 07430.
