Jay R. McClintock Sr. of the Town of Wallkill, N.Y., passed away at home on November 3, 2017. The son of the late John and Ruth Ashall McClintock, he was born on March 24, 1931 in Paramus, N.J. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Town of Wallkill DPW and a longtime resident of the area. Jay was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a 49 year lifelong member of the Mechanicstown Fire Department; past chief and past commissioner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed meeting his buddies daily at Dunkin Donuts where they would talk politics and as he put it, "solve the world's problems." He had a great sense of humor, and was loved by all. Survivors include his wife Joan McClintock at home; his children: Sharon and her husband John of Irvine, CA., Deborah Fox and her husband Frederick of Campbell Hall, Laurie Hatch and her husband Jeffrey of Dunedin, FL., and Jay R. McClintock Jr. and his wife Leslie of the town of Wallkill; eight grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Alan (Sandy) McClintock and Robert McClintock. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Wallkill Cemetery, Town of Wallkill, N.Y. Memorial service immediately following at the Mechanicstown Fire House on 22 Victory St, Middletown, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Hudson Valley Honor Flight or H.V.H.F. and sent to Hudson Valley Honor Flight Attn: Donations, P.O. Box 375, Walden, NY 12586. Jay was set to go on one of these flights to visit the war memorial in Washington D.C. on November 4, 2017. We are sure he was there in spirit.
