Herbert A. "Herbster" Engelmann Monticello, New York Herbert A. Engelmann of Monticello, passed away on Monday February 8, 2016 peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Cancer Center of Orange Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66. He was born in Honesdale, PA on June 19, 1949 into the loving arms of his parents Herbert Engelmann and Harriet Botsford Engelmann. He grew up in Narrowsburg, N.Y. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Local 445 for many years. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved to hunt and surround himself with some of his buddies. Tiny and Garfield Tuttle, Mike Richardson, Ted Kemp, Jeff Dobbs, Sam Rasado, Edward Koskey, John Stapleton, Ed Schueler, and many many more. He also enjoyed going to Dunkin Donuts. Herb also lent a helping hand to his neighbors or to anyone who needed him, he was the go to man. He is survived and forever loved by his wife Marianne Engelmann, three children he adored, Michael Engelmann and his partner Kimberly Cleveland of Monticello; Ashley Boothe and her husband Gareth Boothe of Monticello, and Cassandra (Mugsey) Engelmann and her partner Justin Healy of White Lake. His grandchildren who he loved dearly, Michael and Adrianna Engelmann of Delaware; Katelynn and Gabriella Boothe of Monticello and Devin, Collin and Ava Engelmann of Monticello. Sister and brother-in-law Loretta and Calvin Foreman of Greenwill Springs, La.; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Joe Thomas of Ridgely, Md.; Sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Wes Bowers of Middletown; sister-in-law Terri Gonhue of Albany; sister-in-law Edith Salzano of Middletown; brother-in-law Larry Gonhue of White Lake. His nieces and nephews Joseph and Danielle Thomas of Maryland, Alicia and Carly Bowers of Middletown, Ryan and Elijah Salzano of Middletown, Ricky King of Middletown, Sarah Gonhue of Albany and Brandon Quinn of N.J. His mother-in-law Catherine Salzano of Middletown and several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a grandson Damien Engelmann, a brother Herman Engelmann, a niece Tonya Engelmann, a nephew Gregory Thomas and one of his best friends Walter Koskey. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Perry and his staff at Crystal Run Healthcare, the staff at ORMC, staff at ORMC radiation oncology department in Goshen and Middletown, for all their help and concern. A family statement reads: " If love could have kept him alive, he would have lived forever." Visitation hours will be held on Thursday February 11, 2016 from 1-4 P.M. with a Funeral Service at 3:30 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County SPCA 104 Rock Hill Drive Rock Hill, N.Y. 12775 , in memory of his dog Kennedy Engelmann.
