Helen Smith

April 17, 1928 — July 30, 2014

Helen M. Smith of Middletown, a retired employee of the Occupational Therapy Department of the Middletown Psychiatric Center after 34 years of service, and a lifelong resident of the area, died on July 30, 2014 in Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 86. The daughter of the late Virgil and Ethel May Lynch Perry, she was born on April 17, 1928 in Middletown, New York. She attended Port Jervis High School. She was a member of the Woodman of the World; Fraternal Order of Eagles #544 Auxiliary. She was a past member of the Green Ridge Golf Club and the Middletown Bowling league at 17-84 Bowl. A past member of the NYS Retirees Public Employees Federation AFL-CIO. She was an avid fisherman and dedicated Boston Red Sox, Redskins and Joe Gibbs Racing Fan. The family would like to thank Helen's neighbors for watching over her these last several years. A special thank you to Wayne Tiffany who was like an adopted son to her and Katie Kummer who was always there for her, you were like a daughter to her. The family would also like to thank Dr. Cristescu from Middletown Medical and the entire nursing staff from the MICU and the PCU units at ORMC. You were all so kind and compassionate over the last several weeks. She was the widow of Raymond A. Smith. Survivors include her son Gary V. Smith and his companion Cindy McKenley of Johnson. Her grandson George W. Smith of Johnson and granddaughter Kim Wragge and her husband Rob of Port Jervis. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, her aunt and several cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Arlene Smith. Visitation hours will be held on Sunday August 3, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, New York. Funeral services will be held on Monday Aug. 4, 2014 at 10 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wallkill Cemetery Phillipsburg, N.Y.
