Helen Anna Smith Furman Mount Hope, New York Helen Anna Smith Furman of Mount Hope, a retired cafeteria worker at the Minisink Valley Schools and a longtime resident of the area, died on March 20, 2014 at Middletown Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was 93. The daughter of the late Marshall and Grace Smith, she was born on July 29, 1920 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the widow of Leslie Furman. She was a member of the Otisville- Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church. She was a longtime member of the Greenville Seniors. She loved traveling to the different area casinos. She loved to camp, crochet and embroidery, telling stories about how she grew up and family picnics, but her biggest love was for her family. She is survived by her children: Arleen Strecker and her husband Jeff of Otisville, NY; Marshall Furman and his wife Colleen of Mt. Hope, NY; her brother: Edward Smith of Washingtonville, NY; as well as her 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and her cousin Kathleen Reinke of Virginia. She was predeceased by her daughter: Cheryl Kennedy; son: Leslie A. Furman; granddaughter: Lori Jean Furman; sister: Geraldine Pentz; and brothers: Charles and Gerald Smith. Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM on Sunday March 23, 2014 at Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main Street Middletown. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday March 24, 2014 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey Farley officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Plains Cemetery in Otisville, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Otisville-Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church in Otisville. Arrangements by Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc.
