Gerald Caffery

October 24, 1947 — September 8, 2012

Gerald V. Caffery of Montgomery, a retired Industrial Training Supervisor for the Greenhaven Correctional Facility and a lifelong resident of the area, died surrounded by his loved ones at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 64. The son of the late Wesley J. and Barbara Estile Caffery, he was born on October 24, 1947 in Middletown, New York. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. A family statement read: "Last night at 11:00 P.M. the World lost a good man Gerald V. Caffery 10/24/47-9/8/2012 after a two year battle with cancer. Jerry was a loved father, brother, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend. We want to thank all our friends and family for their support and wishes during this hard time. You will be very missed by all." Survivors include his wife Terry Caffery at home. His children: Jody Caffery Wallack and her husband Charles of Spring Glen, N.Y.; Susan Caffery of Putney VT.; Rebecca Caffery of Proctorsville, VT.; Shanna Caffery of Monticello, N.Y. Megan Caffery of Liberty; Denise Brightbill and her husband James of Bloomingburg; and Jimmy Schoenleber of Slate Hill, N.Y. His sister Barbara Caffery McNeil and her husband Daniel of Middletown and sister-in-law Kathy Caffery of New Lisbon, N.Y. His father-in-law Herbert Penaluna. His grandchildren Jessica; Shandi; Jamie; Erika; Bruce; Zion; Kianna; and Ava. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and his dogs Freckles; Bailey and Jasper. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Caffery. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday September 11, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main St. Middletown, N.Y. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 12, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Brick Church Cemetery Montgomery, N.Y.
