Edward L. Magar, a retired employee of the State of New York and a lifelong resident of the area, died on September 28, 2015 in Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 83. The son of the late William and Ethel Mayfield Magar, he was born on January 6, 1932 in Middletown, New York. He was a graduate of Middletown High School. He was a member of the Howells Fire Company, where he served as an Assistant Chief and served on the Board of Fire Commissioners. He was a veteran of the U.S. NAVY. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Virginia Smith Magar at home. His children: William E. Magar of Howells; Ginny-Ann Magar Mott and her husband Richard of Middletown; Debra S. VanSickle of Middletown; his sister: Kaye Korby of Minnesota; his brother: Kenneth Magar and his wife Ingrid of Tuxedo, NY; his brothers in law: James Logan of the state of Florida and Anthony Stavale of California. He is further survived by his grandchildren: William H. Magar; Veronica Magar; Kassandra Mott; Kristina Mott; Hannah Grace VanSickle; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son: Joseph; his sisters: Joyce Stavale; Carol Mielke and Laura Jean Logan. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Friday October 2, 2015 at Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main Street Middletown, NY. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday October 3, 2015 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
