Dorothy M. Petak of Middletown, NY entered into eternal rest on July 19, 2022, at Garnet Health Medical Center. She was 92. The daughter of the late Michael Palmer and Mary Quirk Palmer, she was born in Florida, NY where she lived with her many brothers and sister.
"Dot" was an amazingly strong woman, grounded in her deep faith and love of family. She was passionate about social issues, an avid reader, always ready for a debate. Her quick wit and her sense of humor endeared her to many.
She was an active member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown, NY
She is survived by her son, Gregory B. Petak and his wife Mary of Middletown NY; daughter Cynthia M. Petak-Brennan of Pottstown PA; her grandchildren Jake and his wife Denise, Meghan, Elizabeth and Michael; great grand-children Thea and Marlo; sister Katherine Jarocki; sisters-in-law Helen Dowd and Teresa Petak; along with her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Bernard "Bernie" Petak; son-in-law Michael E. Brennan; brothers John Dowd and his wife Evelyn; Bernard "Pat" Dowd and his wife Evelyn, Edward Dowd, Michael Palmer; sister Ruth Weslowski; father-in-law Joseph Petak and mother-in-law Edwina Padworski Petak; bother-in-laws Joseph Petak, Herman Petak and his wife Eleanor, Albert Petak and his wife Mary, John Petak and Francis "Frank" Jarocki.
The Petak family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Chares Strober for his skillful and compassionate care of Dorothy for the past 40 years. In addition, we would like to thank Dr. Daniela Andreca and staff at Garnet Medical Center and her caregiver and loving friend, Natalya.
Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday July 26, 2022 from 3-6 P.M. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. 72 West Main Street Middletown, N.Y.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at 11 A.M. in St. Joseph Church in Middletown, N.Y.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Middletown, N.Y.
