Dorothy "Sissy/Dotty" Giampietro, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, entered into final rest peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Saint Anthony's Community Hospital during a courageous fight against COPD with her family at her bedside. The daughter of the late Corneilus and Dorothy Slater, she was born on July 6, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. Following high school, she graduated beauty school. She quickly became the family's beautician and barber. She owned and ran her own beauty shop in Brooklyn. Once the shop was closed, for many years after, business was just relocated to her kitchen and various other kitchens of family and friends. When she moved to Greenwood Lake, NY in 1965, whenever going back to Brooklyn to visit, she traveled with her "scissors", just in case someone needed a haircut. She leaves at home her loving husband, Paul J Giampietro in which she married on April 14, 1956. She was his "Babe and Honey" for 56 years. She is also survived by her daughter Maria D Giampietro and her husband, John Gendwila; her daughter Paula T Giampietro Russo and her husband, Wayne T Russo and their children, her twin grandchildren, Joseph P Russo and Alexa D Russo; her sister Rosemary Slater, her brother Corneilus "Neal" Slater and his wife Mary Jane, her brother John Slater and his wife Connie, her sister Judith "Judy" and her husband Stan Manison, her brother Thomas "Tom" Slater and his wife Florence; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Charles Slater. A Letter From Heaven: When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not here to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes, filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today, while thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart. Visitation will be held Thursday September 27, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Strong-Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak Street Greenwood Lake, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday September 28, 2012 at 10 AM at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake, NY. Interment will follow at Orange County Veteran's Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
