Danya Porter Jackson

September 6, 1969 — January 13, 2025

Middletown

Danya Lashon Porter-Jackson was born in the Bronx, NY, on September 6, 1969, the eldest daughter of Ruth and Stanley Butler. She began her education in Christian and private schools, later choosing to transfer to public school in the 10th grade in search of new friends and adventures. She graduated from Morris High School in 1987, earning a scholarship to The State University of New York (SUNY). Danya's adventurous spirit led her to leave college and remain in the Bronx until she followed her mother, father, and sister to Middletown, NY. There, she built a close-knit circle of friends who became like family. Her life was forever changed with the birth of her one and only child, Briana Randolph, on September 7, 1995, her most precious birthday gift.

Creativity was at the core of Danya's life. While working, she always found ways to express her talents through hairstyling, cake baking, party planning, and other creative outlets. During her time working at ShopRite, she met the love of her life, Malcolm Anthony Jackson, or AJ as she called him, who preceded her in death in February 2024. They married in 2008 and fulfilled their dream of moving to Atlanta, GA, in 2016. However, their deep love for family and friends eventually brought them back to Middletown, where they spent the remainder of their lives.

Danya worked in various roles throughout her life, including hairstyling, CNA work, and ultimately as a manager at Tall Oaks until her retirement due to disability. She was known as the life of the party, making lifelong friendships and always supporting those she cared about. Her devotion extended to her nieces and nephews, whom she affectionately called Miracle, Prince, and Cookie. Above all, Danya's greatest love was her child Briana. Their bond was unbreakable, a mother and child who were best friends until the very end.

Danya was called home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2025. Her love, life, and memory continue to inspire those she leaves behind: her beloved daughter, Briana Randolph; her parents, Stanley and Ruth Butler; her sister and brother-in-law, Lynnette and Mario Watson Sr.; her cherished nieces and nephews, Amari Watson, Mario Watson Jr., and Amira Watson; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her vibrant spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
