George M. Dybdal of Greenwood Lake, a retired police officer with the NYPD in New York City and a longtime resident of the area, died on June 27, 2017 at his home. He was 74. The son of the late George H. and Gerd Hansen Dybdal, he was born on May 24, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Survivors include his wife Carole Dybdal at home. His children Michael Dybdal of Warwick, N.Y.; Bill Dybdal; Edward Dybdal and Linda Melzig and her husband Christopher all of Greenwood Lake, N.Y. His grandchildren Lyla and Jack and his brother John Dybdal. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be held on Saturday July 1, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak St. Greenwood Lake, N.Y. Funeral services will be held Saturday evening at 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
