Obituary of Chief Robert "Bobby" Rabbitt Jr. Greenwood Lake, NY Greenwood Lake, NY former Chief of Police Robert "Bobby" Rabbitt 57, Greenwood Lake NY passed awayon Sunday 2/26/17. He was born on April 30, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife Annie (Meeney) Rabbitt, and his Pride and Joys;Daughter Erin, Son Robert Rabbitt III and his cherished Granddaughter Abigail. All of who he loved with his entire heart. His future Daughter in-law Joanna Szpunar and future Son in-law Thomas Brennan.He is also survived by his Brothers, Michael and JosephRabbitt, his Sister Jeannie Rabbitt,his Sisters in-law Carol Pagano and Patricia Meeney-Jeleniewicz and brother in-law Rick Paganoalong with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death byhis Parents, Eileen and RobertRabbitt Sr. and his Mother in-Law Helen Meeney and brother in-law Mark Meeney. Bobby enjoyed his life.He married his childhood sweetheart Annie and always felt that his greatest accomplishment and whom he was most proud of was their children and his granddaughter. He was devoted to his family and to God. He valued his work. He was an avid fisherman.He had a great sense of humor and his laughter was contagious.He enjoyed his Irish roots and especially loved Irish music. The beach was his favorite place.He enjoyed spending his time with his wife, his family and friends. His true passion was helping those in need. He was generous beyond words and all that knew him could always count on him. He always rooted for the underdog and his wisdom and kindness will be carried on through his children and grandchildren. He was a "stand up" guy. He was a retired Chief of Police in Greenwood Lake NY and before his career in law enforcement, he was a Business Agent for the Teamsters Union Local 807 in Long Island City, NY for many years. He was also an Ornamental Iron Worker at Local 580. We Thank you for your years of service and protecting the village and lake that you loved. The world was a better place because of you Bobby Rabbitt, you made a difference in this world. We will love you and honor your memory for the rest of our days. Your spirit will live on in your children and grandchildren. We will miss you forever.We will always stay humble and kind. Until we meet again. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM on Wednesday March 1, 2017 at Strong-Basile Funeral Home 4 Oak Street Greenwood Lake, NY. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday March 2, 2017 at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake, NY. Burial will be at St. Anastasia Cemetery21 N Main St, Harriman, NY 10926 following the Mass.
