Obituary of Marjorie M. Hasbrouck

After living a full, blessed life of 99 years, Marjorie M. Hasbrouck peacefully passed away in her sleep at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center. A Middletown native, Marjorie wonderfully raised 2 children, Charlotte Hasbrouck White and Charles R. Hasbrouck, Sr. She worked for Hollander's Fur Factory for many years until their closure, and then Calvert Coat Factory, until her retirement. A long standing member of AME Zion Church, she enjoyed attending services and various Bible study groups, until she was physically unable to do so. Marjorie was affectionately loved and respected by all, a very humble, yet strong willed woman. She always had a smile on her face, a kind word for everyone and a quick witted sense of humor. She loved to dance, even if it was while sitting in her recliner at home, listening to the songs of her favorite era, Big Band and Swing, humming along to the tunes. Taking scenic rides in the car and spending time with her best friend Roberta 'Birdie' Price were fun pastimes for her. She and Birdie would regularly attend the weekly music concerts at Festival Square in downtown Middletown. But, first and foremost, was the love and devotion she had for her family. Nanny, as she was affectionately referred to by many, loved being surrounded by them. To cherish her memories, Marjorie leaves behind her 2 children, Charlotte and Charles, 8 grandchildren, Wanda, Diane, Bobby, Tony, Styleen, Butch, Karen and Jill. 14 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren and a companion of many years, Aquilino Santiago, along with an abundance of friends. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, William Cotts Miller and Viola Derwin, her 5 siblings, Clarence Derwin, Ethel Miller, William Miller, Jr., Bernice Miller and Wesley Miller. Also predeceasing her was her husband, Charles D. Hasbrouck, 2 grandchildren, Charles 'Butch' White and Terry L. White, and 1 great grandchild, Tribeca. A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 1pm at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. located at 72 West Main St. Middletown, NY. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Robert Barnes and Rev. Ronald Neal. A private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Marjorie's family wishes to gratefully thank Dr. Edward Klein and his staff, all staff at Middletown Dialysis and all staff at Park Manor Rehabilitation Unit.
